One of the things that I have struggled with is making healthy habits that stick. I had tried and failed so many times to set good habits. I am still working on making sure I stick to these habits and it’s been a bumpy road. This is some of my habits that I have been working on and why I think they important to help me live a more healthy and happy life.
Yoga
Yoga is so amazing for my body and I have seen a huge difference in my sleep, my work performance, my mental clarity, and my overall health. I normally do yoga before I go to bed, either with my mat or just a couple minutes on my bed. Both are options but just depends on the day and the amount of time I have. Also following a video is very beneficial for me because it is timed out and it is more mindless. Normally I shoot for 5-30 minutes and a few minutes of meditation. Being able to be clear my mind when I always have a zillion things going around in my mind is very beneficial to my overall mental health.

Reading
Another one of my before bed habits is doing my Bible study. I don’t use a certain devotional, I do my study by in-depth studying a book of the Bible. So I am currently reading through Matthew and I go chapter by chapter verse by verse to get the most out of each of them. I take notes in a journal and this works the best for me and helps me to learn the most out of the passage. I don’t like devotionals as most of them jump around to different verses and they don’t work well for me. I like going chapter by chapter, I get the most out of my study by doing it that way. This is a personal preference. If you aren’t a Christian, reading any book is also a good habit to have before bed. I normally read until I fall asleep.
Water
Drinking a lot of water is the best things I can do for myself. I make it my goal to drink around 2-liters of water every day. I have two 1-liter glass water bottles so it’s easy to track my water and help me reach my goal. I am trying to bump it up to 3-liters which is almost a gallon. This is one that is super important to me, I know I don’t function at 100% when I don’t drink enough. Did you know 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated? Chronic dehydration can wreak havoc on our entire bodies and cause so many problems. So increasing your water intake can be super beneficial and a great habit to incorporate into your life.

I would love to say I get up every day at 5 and workout and eat a balanced healthy meal three times a day but I don’t. I am always working at different times and different days so its hard to have a perfect morning routine since I don’t get up at the same time every morning. One of my goals is to get a better schedule and get a good solid daily routine. It’s a work in progress.
I try to make my bed every morning it helps boost my productivity! I totally recommend the book: Make Your Bed by: William H. McRaven he shares the ten principles he learned during Navy Seal training that helped him overcome challenges not only in his training and long Naval career, but also throughout his life; and he explains how anyone can use these basic lessons to change themselves-and the world-for the better.
