Do you believe in yourself? I’m not talking about ‘ I guess I can do it’, I am talking about full belief in yourself. Believing you can do anything and can break through every brick wall in your path. It’s hard to imagine right? How do you learn to stop self sabotaginging yourself?
Why is it that we spend so much of our lives hating ourselves? We are constantly looking for ways to change ourselves and criticizing ourselves at every turn. Why are we our own worst enemy? As women we tear ourselves down ALL THE TIME. You don’t think twice about it. Thoughts just pop into your head when you stand in front of the mirror and you can’t stop them. You degrade yourself, compare your body to others online. You wish you were taller, or skinnier, or had different hair. If only you could change that one thing your life would be so much better…
What if when standing in the mirror, you changed what you did? Instead of letting your brain pick apart every part of yourself you don’t like change what we are focusing on. You may hate your legs, you think they are to big or to short. But those legs are what allow you to stand and walk. Every. Single. Day. They take you where you need to go and you should be grateful for that. Stop focusing on your thighs and their size, focus on what they do for you that is down right amazing.
Step back and recocognize that what you have in life shouldn’t be the only thing that you focus on. What if your favorite thing about yourself was gone? How would that change your thoughts about yourself? Would this destroy how you see yourself and your feelings of self worth? Would you be able to look past it and see everything that you still have?
What you have right now, someone out there is praying for it.
All of those small chunks of yourself make a whole and that’s what I like to focus on. Why? Because in my life experience I have been through rough patches that feel like nothing is ever going to be right in the world ever again. But I have survived, I have risen from the ashes of those times in my life. Allowing those times in my life to shape me into a better person. I wish I could say I am never the person that criticizes herself. I daily struggle with anxious thoughts that tell me that I’m not good enough, or that I will never be
I go back to seeing myself as a person.
One thing that I have found useful is having a mantra that I can tell myself when I am feeling down about myself or struggle with self worth. My hope for you is that you sit down and think about what you struggle with and find some inspring words of your own to remind yourself that you are amazing! You have walked through hell, and are rising above the ashes of your life. No one can do it for you, no knight in shining armour is going to apear and magically change your life. It’s time to put those pesky inner thoughts in their place and rise above all the negitive words we tell ourselves. The rest of the world is quick enough to jump at our throats everytime we step out of line. Be your own biggest cheerleader!
